Badminton News: Indonesian men’s doubles ranked 8th in the world, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto successfully secured a ticket to the last 16 of the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships held in Manila, Philippines with their victory over the representatives of India, MR Arjun / Dhruv Kapila.

Occupying the fourth seed, Fajar/Rian managed to beat Arjun/Kapila in two tight games in a row with a score of 21-16 and 24-22 in 35 minutes.

After winning the first game quite comfortably, Fajar/Rian met with great resistance from the Indian pair. Even the representatives of Indonesia had to go through the match for the frame. Fortunately, the 2022 Swiss Open champion was able to finish the second game with a victory.

Also, in the round of 16 on Thursday (4/28), Fajar/Rian will meet a strong Chinese pair, former world champion Liu Yu Chen who is paired with Ou Xuan Yi.

The second round ticket was also successfully secured by the fourth seed who is also a 5th ranked mixed doubles pair in the world who now plays professionally, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti who easily won against representatives of the India, Venkat Gaurav Prasad / Juhi Dewangan two consecutive games 21-9 and 21-13 in just 19 minutes.

Then, Praveen/Melati will try to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships against a young Chinese duo, Feng Yan Zhe/Lin Fang Ling who in the previous round had managed to repatriate representatives from Malaysia, Hoo Pang. Ron/Cheah Yee See with rubber games 21-23, 21-12 and 22-20.
