With the title of candidate for the Masters rank and the post of vice president of the African Chess Confederation (CAJE), the participation of Nadezhda Marochkina, known as “Nadia” in the 44th Olympic Games of the discipline is doubly beneficial for Senegal. It was from July 28 to August 9 in the city of Chennai, India.
According to continental and international competitions, Nadezhda Marochkina, known as “Nadia” does not stop accumulating the points necessary to hope as soon as possible to achieve the title of Master in the game of chess. So far unknown differences on the Senegal chessboard despite the legend the country is known for.
Indeed, starting from Gorgui Gueye to Séga Sakho, past Mansour Gbedo Sy and El Hassan Wane, the list is far from complete. In short, just a beautiful Senegalese piece with no one having succeeded, to date, in accessing this prestigious Master of Chess title. A privilege that Nadia Marochkina could have next September during the African Championships.
“This is a challenge that I want to achieve as soon as possible and I am determined to do so. Already in Chennai during the recent Olympics, I took a step forward by becoming a Masters candidate. It is very likely that I will be the titular Master at the end of next September’s African Championships. And I’m working hard to get there even before the end of this summer. If that doesn’t work, I’m looking at taking advantage of another approved tournament to become the titular Master. This is really a personal challenge“said Nadia
On the sidelines of the 44th Chennai Olympics, the African Confederation took the opportunity to renew its Executive Board. And if Botswanan Tshepiso Lopang is the new boss of the black continent’s chessboard, compatriot Nadia Marochkina inherits the rank of vice president. This will facilitate Africa’s cohabitation with world bodies whose presidents Arkad Dvorkovitch are of Russian origin, such as Nadia Maroch’s quinine.
“To be an inclusive leader in promoting excellence in sport development on the continent. With a mission to promote best sports management practices among members, leveraging their strengths and experience. Encouraging ongoing dialogue with our members, building the talent pool for our members by supporting their skills. To become a learning center for sports leadership and management to produce leading executives. And finally holding thought leadership on governance best practices at all levels“, aim Nadia.
