At Châteaulin, Run ar Puñs unites India and Reunion – Châteaulin

Parveen & Ilyas Khan

Parveen Sabrina Khan and Ilyas Raphaël Khan, children of renowned Indian percussionist Hameed Khan Kawa, were introduced to the ancestral art of Rajasthan from an early age. They take the public into an innovative universe where maands, the endangered traditional Indian songs, take a new twist. Parveen sings poetry to this music which leaves plenty of room for improvisation, to the accompaniment of Ilyas, a beat boxer and talented tablas (Indian percussionist) player. A musical and spiritual journey.

aurora

Aurus, aka Bastien Picot, hails from Reunion. Following the transgressive polyphony of 3SomeSisters, it distills Maloya from its roots in an orchestral and percussion pop setting, reminiscent of James Blake, Peter Gabriel or Woodkid. Tamponnais singer-songwriter Bastien Picot lives today between Paris and Reunion, a haven of rest or creation on an already rich trajectory: backing vocals with Stevie Wonder, Fred Wesley, with 3SomeSisters & Yael Naim, on lead vocals for albums produced by Richard Bona or with Lo Griyo or Maya Kamaty. Good CV.
