Apple will soon enable 5G on compatible iPhones in India with a simple software update and it should be available as early as December if all goes well.
According to ET News, Apple and Indian operator Airtel will meet this week to discuss why the iPhone is not compatible with India’s 5G network. Apple has already been testing support for its 4G successor on iPhones in Mumbai and New Delhi, and an update officially adding support is expected to arrive in December.

Meanwhile, the Indian government apply pressure on Apple, Samsung and other manufacturers to offer 5G support on their smartphones. Some phones sold in India don’t have such support in 2022, which is starting to worry the authorities. In the case of Apple, the first iPhone to support 5G will be the iPhone 12 in 2020. In 2022, Indians will not be able to enjoy the new network, even if they have a compatible smartphone. Hence, it is necessary to wait for the well-known updates to get support.
