HOLI, the Festival of Colors returns on May 22 in Paris
Every year, HOLI is celebrated in India for two days. On the first day, a giant fire was lit for Holika Ceremony, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. If also known as “sharing party”, HOLI is an opportunity to forgive. On the 2nd day, residents adorn themselves with clean white clothes. All dressed in whitethey walk on the streets get rid of colored pigment to their neighbors. And each color has its own symbolism. Green is a symbol of harmony, red refers to joy and love and blue represents vitality. So, on the occasion of HOLI, so many colors and desires intertwine, forming colorful smoke clouds full of hope. In the capital, Parisians are also celebrating HOLI in their own way in the heart of the city Acclimatization Park…
A burst of color at the Jardin d’Acclimatation
In March 2019over 30,000 people gathered at the Jardin d’Aclimatation during HOLI third edition. Unfortunately, the Fête des Couleurs was canceled in 2020, due to the health crisis. While life has restarted, HOLI is back after a 3 year absence, in the heart of Paris’ 18-acre recreational park. On the program: Indian dance and song performances all day, Royal Parade of Maharaja & Maharanicolor big release, concert Bollywood Merge Band, Food Trucks and even indian village with Kathakali & Bindi makeup booths, henna, crafts, yoga & meditation among other entertainments. A journey of a thousand scents and flavours, colored powders tossed into the air… A feast of flamboyant surprises!
