Relations between Hamburg and India are very close and there are extraordinary partnerships and collaborations in the fields of culture, science and business. Many initiatives illustrate this relationship, such as a joint project between Hamburg and Hyderabad to promote culture or the visit of students from renowned universities in India to the Hanseatic city for discussions.
The beginning of this relationship dates back to a meeting in Hamburg in 1942 where the Indian national anthem was officially played for the first time in history. Since then, both parties have actively maintained relations with each other. India Week Hamburg plays a special role in this, and we celebrate its 10th anniversary this year from November 20 to 26 in the Free and Hanseatic City.

India Week Hamburg is a week full of events on politics, society, science, business, culture and sport taking place at various locations across Hamburg.
With the aim of deepening ties between India and Hamburg, India Week offers an excellent opportunity for organizers to present their work and those interested can experience the diversity of Indian culture.
The tenth India Week Hamburg will take place from 20 to 26 November 2023. It is being organized under the chairmanship of the Senate Chancellor by leading organizers such as the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, OAV, Hamburg Invest, Hamburg Representative Office in Mumbai, Germany-India Roundtable, Culture and Media Authority and the Consulate General of the Republic of India in Hamburg. India Week Hamburg offers visitors the opportunity to take part in more than 70 events, including stimulating discussions on social issues as well as workshops on dance, yoga, Indian cuisine and more.
