Badminton News: Malaysian world number 6 Lee Zii Jia started the Thailand Open 2022 with an easy win over Azerbaijan’s Ade Resky Dwicahyo at Impact Arena, Bangkok on Wednesday (18/5).
The No. 6 seed in men’s singles needed just 36 minutes to beat Indonesian-born Dwicahyo 21-19, 21-9 to enter the last 16 of the 2022 Thailand Open.
Lee Zii Jia will next face Germany’s Kai Schaefer in the second round.
World number 34 Daren Liew also advanced to the second round beating India’s HS Prannoy 21-17, 15-21 and 21-15 in 65 minutes.

Zhao next faces Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen on Thursday.
Besides Momota, third seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark was also eliminated by Shesar Hiren Rhustavito of Indonesia 21-17, 19-21 and 16-21.
The men’s doubles brought together two Malaysian pairs qualified for the second round. 6 seed Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik will face Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Po-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei while Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin will face Christo Popov/Toma Junior Popov of France in the next round.
