Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra Group, praised a “tricycle” he saw in Manhattan. Noting that this tricycle was different from other similar vehicles he had seen, Mahindra noted that the vehicle was not a “commercial rickshaw” and was not aimed at last-mile mobility, but that “from “Style bubbled out of him”.
Mahindra also expressed optimism that the stylish three-wheeler could one day be manufactured by an Indian company as India is a global heavyweight in this segment.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mahindra wrote: “I see this ‘tricycle’ in Manhattan. It’s not a commercial rickshaw! And it’s certainly not about last-mile mobility. This one oozes style. One day from an Indian company? After all, we are the global heavyweights in three-wheelers.”
Last week, Mahindra had also praised Google’s new move to manufacture the Pixel 8 smartphone in India. Replying to a post about Google’s decision to manufacture the Pixel series smartphones in India, the entrepreneur noted that he was proudly informed in the US that the iPhone 15 would be manufactured in India. Mahindra revealed that it also owns a Google Pixel smartphone and will switch to the India-made Pixel phones as soon as they launch.
Mahindra shared a fascinating anecdote: “I was recently at a Verizon store in the US to purchase a local SIM and proudly informed the salesperson that my iPhone 15 was made in India.” It was a special pleasure to have his raised eyebrows! I also have a Google Pixel. I will switch to the made in India version when it comes out. So I can tell you that my Pixel is also made in India… But at this point there probably won’t be any raised eyebrows because until then. India will be recognized worldwide as a manufacturing location…
