Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian Olympic Committee or NOC Indonesia considers that there is an evaluation of the results of the Asian Games that must be taken into account for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In addition, the deadline is less than one year.
This was emphasized by the President of the Indonesian NOC, Raja Sapta Oktohari, during the official dissolution of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Chefs de Mission (CoM) team at the auditorium of the Ministry of Public Works and of Public Housing, Jakarta, Friday (10/20/2023).
“Indonesia’s population is the fourth largest in the world. However, our sports performance is still not that great. China and the United States are still competing to show off their sporting expertise, India is starting to gain momentum. “Even if Indonesia still hasn’t done it, of course it is our duty,” he said.
For this reason, he also plans to form a working group that will guide the Indonesian team in the Paris Olympics, starting from the qualification process.
Nonetheless, Okto said Indonesia’s achievements in Hangzhou were the best in Asian Games held outside Indonesia. In terms of gold medals won, this is the best achievement since New Delhi 1982. Meanwhile, in terms of rankings, it is the best since 2022 Busan.
Okto appreciated the performance of the CdM team under the leadership of the 2023 Asian Games Chef de Mission, chaired by PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, who was ready to work hard to protect and serve Indonesian athletes, including ensuring ensured that athletes, coaches and officials were comfortable and could therefore concentrate on the competition.
“I, the President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, rated Mr. Basuki’s report card as CoM, if it was 1 to 10, he got a score of 10. He and the team ensured that all the items were served, from the beginning, in “Hangzhou, until the end, everyone was happy. Because when you are happy, the results can be maximum,” Okto said.
Meanwhile, Basuki, as CDM of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, explained that regarding the assessment of the failure of the Indonesian contingent to achieve the government’s target, Basuki handed it over to the ministry of Youth and Sports, KONI and KOI to evaluate it,
“I think the task of KOI, KONI, Menpora is to evaluate. “I support it simply because I have had a lot of discussions with athletes and officials, so there are several things that can be subject to follow-up,” he explained.
He recognized that the sport was a new community for him and that he had been exposed to a diverse community so that he could explore the development of the sport in the future.
As PUPR Minister, Basuki also plans to build the best sports facilities to meet the training needs of athletes, which is expected to support the improvement of Indonesia’s sports achievements. At least, Basuki added, four sports will benefit from renovations at training venues.
“First of all, swimming, we built (a swimming pool) in Unnes, Semarang. We want to add to UNJ. There is a skateboarding area in Taman Mini and we have studied it. Hockey is at GBK, but training rental is expensive and they have an independent field in Depok. We will see that too. “Apart from that, there is also BMX in Pulomas and Banyuwangi, they already exist, but we still need the 8M “, Basuki said.
On this occasion, the NOC and the CdM also expressed their appreciation to traditional athletes dragon boats (TBR). TBR, which is under the auspices of PB PODSI, managed to give 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze in the Asian Games. It’s just that they didn’t receive this appreciation because places The race takes place in Wenzhou which is 4 hours from Hangzhou.
