BORNONEWS, Jakarta – Indonesia, through the ITS Sapuangin team from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya, managed to achieve third place in the Shell Eco World Championship energy-efficient car competition -marathon (SEM) 2023 in Bangalore, India, 10-12. October, behind two French representatives who occupy first place.
The SEM World Championship event tested the most efficient, energy-saving and fastest vehicles, bringing together 12 student teams strictly selected to represent three regions, namely America, Europe and Africa, as well as Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
“We faced many challenges to participate in the Shell Eco-marathon world championship. This achievement is proof of great will, hard work and a strong team. “Not only does it encourage innovation, but for me, this opportunity also leads us to focus on designing energy-efficient cars rather than just playing with gadgets,” Frame & Body head Sapuangin Adim said on Saturday of ITS in an official press release.
At this event, in addition to ITS Sapuangin, the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions were represented by the Arjuna UI team from the University of Indonesia (UI), Garuda UNY Eco Team 1 from the State University of Yogyakarta (UNY) and a team from Singapore.
The four representatives from the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions earned the right to compete in the SEM World Championship after becoming the top four finishers in the Shell Eco-marathon regional championship held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in July last.
